Failed to load intel firmware on LNL after update to 20250311.b69d4b74-2

Description:

I noticed that bluetooth stopped working on my Intel Lunar Lake laptop (Core Ultra 258V). I know it worked last week, so I tried to revert the recent updates in pipewire and the kernel with no luck.

However, I noticed the following error in dmesg:

Mar 17 09:56:04 lennart-lunara kernel: Bluetooth: hci0: Failed to load Intel firmware file intel/ibt-0190-0291-usb.sfi (-2)
Mar 17 09:56:04 lennart-lunara kernel: Bluetooth: hci0: Failed to read MSFT supported features (-56)

After reverting from linux-firmware version 20250311.b69d4b74-2 back to 20250210.5bc5868b-1 the issue is resolved:

Mar 17 11:53:48 lennart-lunara kernel: Bluetooth: hci0: Found device firmware: intel/ibt-0190-0291.sfi
Mar 17 11:53:48 lennart-lunara kernel: Bluetooth: hci0: Boot Address: 0x10000800
Mar 17 11:53:48 lennart-lunara kernel: Bluetooth: hci0: Firmware Version: 160-24.24

Additional info:

  • package version(s): 20250311.b69d4b74-2

  • link to upstream bug report, if any: N/A. Could not find upstream bug tracker.

Steps to reproduce:

I imagine you would have to be on an Intel lunar lake system to run into this issue, and observe bluetooth not functioning (not turning on in GNOME Settings, although the bluetooth.service is online)
