Kernel 6.13 Crashes for Certain Operations Inside Flatpak / FUSE

I reported the issue to Flatpak, they sent me here as this couldn't be caused by Flatpak according to them.

Description:

Somehow, when using Flatpak interacting with certain files in some ways can cause these crashes. I was able to reproduce this issue with the Flatpak packages of multiple apps and can also confirm, that this issue does not happen when installing another non-Flatpak version of the package. The issue is always reproducible and leads to a full system crash. Sometimes after a while and sometimes immediately.

This issue is not reproducible with Linux Kernel 6.12.12, but both with 6.13 and 6.13.1 on multiple devices. I guess expected behaviour would be to not crash.

Additional info:

  • package version(s): 6.13.1
  • config and/or log files: This is one such crash (in this case I'm using the CachyOS kernel, but the issue persists with the Arch kernel).

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Use the Flatpak package of an app e.g. Rnote
  2. Try to import a PDF file
  3. The kernel will throw a bunch of kernel: BUG: Bad page state in process ...
