Upgrade to pre-release as otherwise python-numba can not be upgraded to a py311 compatible version.
Switch to sdsist tarball as git sources are not really required.
Remove unneeded prepare().
Sort dependencies alphabetically.
Use shorter custom var for python project name.

Add all direct dependencies.
Remove Python 3.11 upper bound.
Use pytest to run (all) tests.
Remove use of srcdir.
Pin commit instead of relying on tag (which may move).
