Uh, yeah good catch! I missed that somehow when reviewing !1 (closed). We would indeed either need to wait for a new release (if that ever happens... last release is from 2022) or backport those changes (which I would personally like to avoid).
@zerox Would be nice if you could check/ask if upstream intends to make a new release soonish, otherwise I don't think it makes much sense keeping this issue opened for so long as it's not something we can do anything about on the packaging side.
I got confused by upstream documentation that refers to xcb-imdkit as an optional dependency but it indeed needs to be present at build and runtime, you're right.
