Default configuration without package `alsa-utils` provides no sound output
Note: since this is related to pipewire
, wireplumber
, ALSA, and most probably KDE I'm going to open this here. Feel free to redirect me to a more appropriate location if you find one.
Description:
Having wireplumber
as the pipewire-session-manager
under KDE Plasma 6 with the pipewire[-{pulse,alsa,jack}]
packages installed but not alsa-utils
provides no sound output through my built-in speakers OR audio jack on my laptop (Dell Precision 5530 from 5 years ago).
It did not happen when upgrading to Plasma 6 (so I don't think it's one of the issues that might've been introduced with the jump) but only happened a few days ago. An exact date is hard to pinpoint, and I cannot thus see what packages might've been installed/updated around that time.

Everything is set to default.
Steps to reproduce:
Honestly, nothing has changed and I've not touched my hardware setup in months. I wouldn't know what steps to take.
