GDM starts too early, leading to gnome-session never finishing initialization

Description:

It seems to me that the GDM systemd unit starts too early since some time this week. On system bootup when I log into Gnome, the session starts, but it is still in the init state, e.g. my autostart desktop files are never started, trying to shutdown, reboot, logout etc. does not work with an error telling that the action is not available until Gnome is initialized. Also occasionally whole system freezes for a long time the moment any "load" is introduced, like Vorta starting a backup in the background or even toggling fullscreen on YouTube in Firefox. These freezes can last up to multiple minutes. This "load" is not a problem for hardware at all and was not triggering lockups a week ago.

sudo systemctl restart gdm fixes all of the above.

Not sure if this is relevant, but I've also found and installed gst-plugin-va this week.

Please refrain from marking issues "confidential" when there is no reason to do so.

I might've left some MAC address or SSID or something alike inside the log. Please refrain from unmarking issues containing other people's logs "confidential" without discussion.

Another lockup happened again, and after that the touchpad cursor speed went through the roof for some reason? It doesn't respond to the value in settings. And half of open windows don't respond to clicks, half responds to a part of them. E.g. I can not open the Quick Settings with a mouse click anymore, but if I do so with Host+s, I can click on stuff inside. Clicking inside browser window works, but scrolling does not, and Nautilus file attachment window ignores the touchpad clicks completely, I had to upload the log below with keyboard only navigation. journal20240728.log

Not seeing any indication here of an Arch gdm packaging issue. From the symptoms, it sounds more like kernel and/or GPU driver related. There's nothing actionable here on the packaging side, so if still reproducible, please try the support channels (Forum, IRC, etc) to see if anyone can assist with troubleshooting.

Kernel is preventing Gnome-Session from initializing and running autostart apps? Lockups maybe, but they were not the main point of the issue.

Please don't reopen issues without new evidence. As already stated, so far there is nothing actionable here on the Arch side. Which means it's either an upstream issue or a config/support issue. Please follow the above recommendation to seek help in the support channels. If an Arch packaging issue comes to light then of course please let us know.
