Should ucode be removed from the initrds specified on grub.cfg to be loaded?
Description:
As of now, mkinitcpio.conf already includes the microcode
which I guess includes into the resulting initramfs-linux*.img
images, the *-ucode.img
one if it finds it, provided by the *-ucode
packages.
So it seems redundant that mkinitcpio includes the *-ucode.img
and that grub also loads it.
I searched into the /etc/grub.d/*
and /etc/default/grub
config files, and there's nothing one could configure to prevent grub from generating the line in grub.cfg
loading *-ucode
, when calling grub-mkconfig
. So it seems this is somehow embedded into grub's code.
I might be wrong in my interpretation on how both mkinitcpio
and grub
work, sorry if that's the case.
This is not really a bug BTW, just noticing mkinitcpio
recent upgrade, with its new hook, and no new grub on testing or staging.
