Good discussion folks! But seeing as this is essentially a gripe for an outdated pkg (which of course is not permitted), we can close this now.

Yeah, GitLab commits do not trigger the build automatically, a PM needs to review changes and trigger the build manually anyway. So it doesn't real...

There is a new Reporter role was introduced recently, see archlinux/mkinitcpio/mkinitcpio#266 for details. Maybe it is applicable here too....
