i915 driver issues after 6.6.x
Description:
Shortly after booting the system, monitors attached to onboard HDMI and DisplayPor "hang". The system continues to boot normally and I am able to SSH into the host. It appears that initialization of the i915 driver fails with the following error:
kernel: RIP: 0010:icl_aux_pw_to_phy.isra.0+0x35/0x40 [i915] kernel: ? icl_aux_pw_to_phy.isra.0+0x35/0x40 [i915 fbba5514f739cc80dd8c88b75ebb2d73c3bec748] kernel: icl_aux_power_well_disable+0x39/0x1d0 [i915 fbba5514f739cc80dd8c88b75ebb2d73c3bec748] kernel: intel_power_domains_sanitize_state+0x91/0xb0 [i915 fbba5514f739cc80dd8c88b75ebb2d73c3bec748] kernel: intel_display_driver_probe_nogem+0x163/0x210 [i915 fbba5514f739cc80dd8c88b75ebb2d73c3bec748] kernel: i915_driver_probe+0x707/0xbe0 [i915 fbba5514f739cc80dd8c88b75ebb2d73c3bec748] kernel: i915_init+0x22/0xc0 [i915 fbba5514f739cc80dd8c88b75ebb2d73c3bec748] kernel: ? __pfx_i915_init+0x10/0x10 [i915 fbba5514f739cc80dd8c88b75ebb2d73c3bec748] kernel: Modules linked in: vfat fat intel_rapl_msr intel_rapl_common iwlmvm(+) x86_pkg_temp_thermal intel_powerclamp i915(+) raid1 coretemp mac802> kernel: RIP: 0010:icl_aux_pw_to_phy.isra.0+0x35/0x40 [i915]
I assumed the issue was the same as THIS resolved bug, but the 6.7.arch3-1 kernel still has the same problem. If I boot the system on an LTS 6.1.x kernel, the system boots to a graphical environment as expected.
Attached is a screenshot showing journal output from a failed boot on kernel 6.7.arch3-1 alongside a successful boot on kernel 6.1.69-1-lts.
Additional info:
- package version(s): linux 6.7.arch3-1
Steps to reproduce:
- Upgrade to Linux 6.6.x - 6.7.x
- Reboot
