Minetest Game should be removed from minetest-common
Summary:
Please remove Minetest Game from the minetest-common
package because since Minetest 5.8.0, it goes against the developer's intentions to ship with any default game.
Long description:
For a long time, Minetest was officially shipped with a default game called "Minetest Game". But for the 5.8.0 release, the developers have decided to "demote" Minetest Game to an ordinary game for Minetest in order to emphasize the focus of Minetest being a game engine, not a game. This, Minetest Game has lost its status as the default game and there are no longer any default games for Minetest. The officially intended way now to get Minetest Game is by installing it via the "Content" tab in the main menu which allows players to download and install pretty much all games for Minetest through the ContentDB, Minetest's official collection of games, mods, and more.
The Arch Linux package minetest-common
currently includes files for Minetest Game. I strongly recommend to remove Minetest Game because it goes against the intentions of the developers and makes UX a bit awkward.
ContentDB is meant to take care of all games already, so having Arch Linux pre-install Minetest Game awkwardly interferes with the ContentDB. It's confusing and worsens UX and goes against current Minetest philosophy.
Suggested fix:
The relevant directory (when installed) is /usr/share/minetest/games/minetest/
. This is Minetest Game. To remove Minetest Game, all that's needed is to remove this directory.
