Description:
Due to the change proposed in #78778, my installation of TeXStudio stopped checking languages, becoming unable to properly connect to a remote LanguageTool server, because the list of languages is populated with the dictionaries available to TeXStudio, defaulting to if none are found.
I solved this problem by installing hunspell-[lang]
packages, but this was not apparent until I read bug #78778 on this tracker. A user with a lower technical ability may not be able to solve this issue and will be left without spellcheck.
Possible solutions:
- Add optional dependencies for all/the most popular hunspell-[lang] packages.
- Add a prompt on upgrade for the user to install hunspell-[lang] packages.
- Add a Wiki page detailing the workaround.
- Create a package with the TeXStudio bundled dictionaries and make it an optional dependence.
Additional info:
- texstudio 4.5.2-3
Steps to reproduce: 0. Don't have installed any hunspell-[lang] package.
- Install texstudio 4.5.2-3
- Open TeXStudio
- See in language selection tool, with no other options available.
