Replace the deprecated bzr package by breezy for the bzr protocol in makepkg.conf
Baazar has been discontinued in 2017 and the bzr
package has been dropped by distributions in favor of breezy
(an active and backward compatible fork):
- Arch dropped it (in the AUR) in 2020 and replaced it with breezy.
- Fedora did the same.
- Debian as well.
- Alpine also.
and so on...
Regarding this, we engaged a ToDo list on Arch side to explicitly replace the bzr
package by breezy
in packages that still {opt, make,}depend on it.
However, makepkg is still explicitly looking for the bzr
package to handle sources that use the so named protocol; making PKGBUILDs that use breezy
fail with the following error:
==> ERROR: Cannot find the bzr package needed to handle bzr sources.
Since distributions dropped bzr
to make the switch to breezy
, it might be the time to make it as well on makepkg/pacman
side?
